Critics can talk all they want about Always Dreaming winning with ‘perfect trips’, but horses like him are making their own trip with their sustaining speed. Am reminded the more I think about it, of the 2003 Preakness when Funny Cide was similarly being called a perfect trip Derby winner and proceeded to throttle foes. Potential parallels to that edition don’t end there either, with Classic Empire perhaps playing role of Peace Rules here and Cloud Computing subbing for Midway Road. Think the place to stand against always Dreaming is at Belmont in 3 weeks..
